how can i help You?

My goal is to help you tell your story, whatever that looks like to you.

I can help in the following genres: creative nonfiction, memoir, hybrid creative nonfiction, horror, romance (classic, YA, and dark), comedy and (almost) everything in between.

The genres I will not edit are: fantasy, romantasy, historical fiction, dystopian, or anything that has a lot of poop involved.

Do you have something that isn’t listed? No problem! All you have to do is ask and see what happens. I can also recommend other editors that will help suit your style.

Developmental editing

Developmental editing focuses on the big picture. Meaning, I read your memoir or novel and write an editorial letter for you about prose, setting, structure, and characters. I will also come up with comparable titles (comps) for you.

Samples for nonfiction and fiction editorial letters are available upon request.

Copyediting and Line-editing

While some people can separate copyediting and line-editing I believe they go hand-in-hand. I follow the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS) and keep myself up to date with their newest editions.

In copyediting, what I’m doing is making sure everything is capitalized correctly, italicized, commas, quotes, and little tiny tweaks.

In line-editing, I am heightening your language without losing your unique voice. (Unlike AI which will make you sound more robotic…)

Proofreading

Have you written your book, got it copyedited, line-edited but now you just want another eye on it before you send it off to publishers?

I will meticulously read your book and see if anything else needs to be changed before you send your book off.

Note: this will not be feedback on HOW your work is. Once you hire me for this stage I will be under the assumption that you are happy with your work, you just want another set of eyes.

the kitchen sink

Do you need EVERYTHING?! A developmental editor, copyeditor, line-editor, AND a proofreader? I am here for you.

Pricing

I am a huge believer in price transparency and I have marked my charges based on experience, skill level, and turnaround date.

The first five (5) minutes of our first consultation will be free. Every consultation following that will be twenty-five dollars ($25) for every thirty (30) minutes.

When it comes to the actual editing portion, every option has it’s own price.

Developmental editing: $0.06/word
Copyediting and Line-editing: $0.03/word
Proofreading: $0.02/word
The Kitchen Sink: $3/word

The turnaround date is dependent on how many words there are in your piece. The average turnaround date is 1-2 weeks. Depending on the project, a RUSH turnaround can be discussed for a higher rate.
